Digital Photography – Beginners

This course is aimed at students with little or no experience of digital photography. All you need to do the course are a few basic computer skills.

The course runs for ten weeks* and includes:

  • Understanding your camera - what everything does and how you can set up your camera to take better pictures
  • An introduction to Photoshop - get the most out of your images by enhancing them on the computer
  • Practical projects - improve your photography by understanding the basics of composition and lighting

Will I need to buy expensive software?

No. The course uses Adobe Photoshop Elements, an affordable programme which is initially available as a free download. Your tutor will advise you on which package is best suited to your requirements.

Will I need to buy an expensive camera?

No. However, students with basic point and shoot cameras will miss out on part of lesson 3 which covers some of the more advanced camera controls.

*At some centres courses run for six weeks
